atha khalu mahāmatir bodhisattvo mahāsattvo bhagavantaṃ gāthābhiḥ paripṛcchya punar apy adhyeṣate sma | deśayatu me bhagavāṃs tathāgato ’rhan samyaksaṃbuddho māṃsabhakṣaṇe guṇadoṣaṃ yena ahaṃ cānye ca bodhisattvā mahāsattvā anāgatapratyutpannakāle sattvānāṃ kravyādasattvagativāsanāvāsitānāṃ māṃsabhojagṛddhāṇāṃ rasatṛṣṇāprahāṇāya dharmaṃ deśayāma | yathā ca te kravyādabhojinaḥ sattvā virāgya rasatṛṣṇāṃ dharmarasāhārakāṅkṣayā sarvasattvaikaputrakapremānugatāḥ parasparaṃ mahāmaitrīṃ pratilabheran | pratilabhya sarvabodhisattvabhūmiṣu kṛtayogyāḥ kṣipram anuttarāṃ samyaksaṃbodhim abhisaṃbudhyeran | śrāvakapratyekabuddhabhūmyā vā viśramyānuttarāṃ tāthāgatīṃ bhūmim upasarpayeyuḥ | durākhyātadharmair api tāvad bhagavann anyatīrthikair lokāyatadṛṣṭyabhiniviṣṭaiḥ sadasatpakṣocchedaśāśvatavādibhir māsaṃ nivāryate bhakṣyamāṇam svayaṃ ca na bhakṣyate | prāg eva kṛpaikarase samyaksaṃbuddhe praṇīte lokanāthe tava śāsane māṃsaṃ svayaṃ ca bhakṣyate bhakṣyamāṇaṃ ca na nivāryate | tat sādhu bhagavān sarvalokānukampakaḥ sarvasattvaikaputrakasamadarśī mahākāruṇiko ’nukampām upādāya māṃsabhakṣaṇe guṇadoṣān deśayatu me yathā ahaṃ cānye ca bodhisattvās tathatvāya sattvebhyo dharmaṃ deśayema | bhagavān āha | tena hi mahāmate śṛṇu sādhu ca suṣṭhu ca manasikuru | bhāṣiṣye ’haṃ te | sādhu bhagavann iti mahāmatir bodhisattvo mahāsattvo bhagavataḥ pratyaśrauṣīt ||
【求译】尔时大慧菩萨以偈问言:
彼诸菩萨等,志求佛道者,
酒肉及与葱,饮食为云何?
惟愿无上尊,哀愍为演说。
愚夫所贪著,臭秽无名称,
虎狼所甘嗜,云何而可食?
食者生诸过,不食为福善,
惟愿为我说,食不食罪福。
大慧菩萨说偈问已,复白佛言:“惟愿世尊为我等说食不食肉功德过恶。我及诸菩萨于现在、未来,当为种种悕望食肉众生分别说法,令彼众生慈心相向。得慈心已,各于住地清净明了,疾得究竟无上菩提。声闻、缘觉自地止息已,亦复逮成无上菩提。恶邪论法诸外道辈邪见断常,颠倒计著,尚有遮法不听食肉,况复如来世间救护正法成就而食肉耶?”佛告大慧:“善 哉善哉!谛听谛听!善思念之,当为汝说。”大慧白佛:“唯然受教。”
【菩译】尔时圣者大慧菩萨摩诃萨白佛言:“世尊!我观世间生死流转怨结相连堕诸恶道,皆由食肉更相杀害,增长贪瞋不得出离甚为大苦。世尊!食肉之人断大慈种,修圣道者不应得食。世尊!诸外道等说邪见法卢迦耶陀堕俗之论,堕于断常有无见中皆遮食肉,自己不食不听他食,云何如来清净法中修梵行者,自食他食一切不制?如来世尊于诸众生慈悲一等,云何而听以肉为食?善哉世尊!哀愍世间愿为我说食肉之过不食功德,我及一切诸菩萨等闻已,得依如实修行广宣流布,令诸现在未来众生一切识知。”佛告圣者大慧菩萨言:“善哉!善哉!善哉大慧!汝大慈悲愍众生故能问此义,汝今谛听当为汝说。”大慧菩萨白佛言:“善哉世尊!唯然受教。”
【实译】尔时大慧菩萨摩诃萨复白佛言:“世尊,愿为我说食不食肉功德过失。我及诸菩萨摩诃萨知其义已,为未来、现在报习所熏食肉众生而演说之,令舍肉味,求于法味,于一切众生起大慈心,更相亲爱,如一子想,住菩萨地,得阿耨多罗三藐三菩提。或二乘地暂时止息,究竟当成无上正觉。世尊,路迦耶等诸外道辈起有无见,执著断常,尚有遮禁,不听食肉,何况如来、应、正等觉大悲含育,世所依怙,而许自他俱食肉耶?善哉世尊,具大慈悲,哀愍世间,等观众生犹如一子,愿为解说食肉过恶,不食功德,令我及与诸菩萨等闻已奉行,广为他说。”尔时大慧菩萨重说颂言:
菩萨摩诃萨,志求无上觉,
酒肉及与葱,为食为不食?
愚夫贪嗜肉,臭秽无名称,
与彼恶兽同,云何而可食?
食者有何过,不食有何德?
惟愿最胜尊,为我具开演。
尔时佛告大慧菩萨摩诃萨言:“大慧!谛听谛听!善思念之,吾当为汝分别解说。
bhagavāṃs tasyaitad avocat | aparimitair mahāmate kāraṇair māṃsaṃ sarvam abhakṣyaṃ kṛpātmano bodhisattvasya tebhyas tūpadeśamātraṃ vakṣyāmi | iha mahāmate anena dīrgheṇādhvanā saṃsaratāṃ prāṇināṃ nāsty asau kaścit sattvaḥ sulabharūpo yo na mātābhūt pitā vā bhrātā vā bhaginī vā putro vā duhitā vā anyatarānyataro vā svajanabandhubandhūbhūto vā tasyānyajanmaparivṛttāśrayasya mṛgapaśupakṣiyonyantarbhūtasya bandhor bandhubhūtasya vā sarvabhūtāt mabhūtānupāgantukāmena[1] sarvajantuprāṇibhūtasaṃbhūtaṃ māṃsaṃ katham iva bhakṣyaṃ syād buddhadharmakāmena bodhisattvena mahāsattvena | rākṣasasyāpi mahāmate tathāgatānām imāṃ dharmasudharmatām upaśrutyopagatarakṣabhāvāḥ kṛpālavā bhavanti māṃsabhakṣaṇavinivṛttāḥ, kim uta dharmakāmā janāḥ | evaṃ tāvan mahāmate teṣu teṣu jātiparivarteṣu sarvasattvāḥ svajanabandhubhāvasaṃjñāḥ sarvasattvaikaputrakasaṃjñābhāvanārthaṃ māṃsaṃ sarvam abhakṣyam | kṛpātmano bodhisattvasyābhakṣyaṃ māṃsam | vyabhicārād api mahāmate māṃsaṃ sarvam abhakṣyaṃ cāritravato bodhisattvasya | śvakharoṣṭrāśvabalīvardamānuṣamāṃsādīni hi mahāmate lokasyābhakṣyāṇi māṃsāni | tāni ca mahāmate vīthyantareṣv aurabhrikā bhakṣyāṇīti kṛtvā mūlyahetor vikrīyante yatas tato ’pi mahāmate māṃsam abhakṣyaṃ bodhisattvasya ||
【求译】佛告大慧:“有无量因缘不应食肉,然我今当为汝略说。谓一切众生从本已来,展转因缘,常为六亲。以亲想故,不应食肉。驴、骡、骆驼、狐、狗、牛、马、人、兽等肉,屠者杂卖故,不应食肉。
【菩译】佛告大慧:“夫食肉者有无量过,诸菩萨摩诃萨修大慈悲不得食肉,食与不食功德罪过我说少分,汝今谛听。大慧!我观众生从无始来食肉习故,贪著肉味更相杀害,远离贤圣受生死苦;舍肉味者闻正法味,于菩萨地如实修行速得阿耨多罗三藐三菩提,复令众生入于声闻辟支佛地止息之处,息已令入如来之地。大慧!如是等利慈心为本,食肉之人断大慈种,云何当得如是大利?是故,大慧!我观众生轮回六道,同在生死共相生育,迭为父母兄弟姊妹,若男若女中表内外六亲眷属,或生余道善道恶道常为眷属,以是因缘我观众生更相噉肉无非亲者,由贪肉味迭互相噉,常生害心增长苦业流转生死不得出离。”佛说是时,诸恶罗刹闻佛所说,悉舍恶心止不食肉,迭相劝发慈悲之心,护众生命过自护身,舍离一切诸肉不食,悲泣流泪而白佛言:“世尊!我闻佛说谛观六道,我所噉肉皆是我亲,乃知食肉众生大怨断大慈种,长不善业是大苦本。世尊!我从今日断不食肉,及我眷属亦不听食;如来弟子有不食者,我当昼夜亲近拥护,若食肉者,我当与作大不饶益。”佛言:“大慧!罗刹恶鬼常食肉者,闻我所说尚发慈心舍肉不食,况我弟子行善法者当听食肉,若食肉者,当知即是众生大怨断我圣种。大慧!若我弟子闻我所说,不谛观察而食肉者,当知即是旃陀罗种,非我弟子我非其师。是故,大慧!若欲与我作眷属者,一切诸肉悉不应食。
【实译】“大慧!一切诸肉有无量缘,菩萨于中当生悲愍,不应噉食,我今为汝说其少分。大慧!一切众生从无始来,在生死中轮回不息,靡不曾作父母、兄弟、男女眷属,乃至朋友、亲爱、侍使,易生而受鸟兽等身,云何于中取之而食?大慧!菩萨摩诃萨观诸众生同于己身,念肉皆从有命中来,云何而食?大慧!诸罗刹等闻我此说尚应断肉,况乐法人?大慧!菩萨摩诃萨在在生处,观诸众生皆是亲属,乃至慈念如一子想。是故,不应食一切肉。大慧!衢路市肆诸卖肉人或将犬、马、人、牛等肉,为求利故而贩鬻之,如是杂秽,云何可食?
śukraśoṇitasaṃbhavād api mahāmate śucikāmatām upādāya bodhisattvasya māṃsam abhakṣyam | udvejanakaratvād api mahāmate bhūtānāṃ maitrīm icchato yogino māṃsaṃ sarvam abhakṣyaṃ bodhisattvasya[2] | tadyathāpi mahāmate ḍombacāṇḍālakaivartādīn piśitāśinaḥ sattvān dūrata eva dṛṣṭvā śvānaḥ prabhayanti bhayena maraṇaprāptāś caike bhavanty asmān api mārayiṣyantīti evam eva mahāmate anye ’pi khabhūjalasaṃniśritān sūkṣmajantavo ye māṃsāśino darśanād dūrād eva paṭunā ghrāṇenāghrāya gandhaṃ rākṣasasyeva mānuṣā drutam apasarpanti maraṇasaṃdehāś caike bhavanti | tasmād api ca mahāmate udvejanakaratvān mahāmaitrīvihāriṇo yogino māṃsam abhakṣyaṃ bodhisattvasya | anāryajanajuṣṭaṃ durgandham akīrtikaratvād api mahāmate āryajanavivarjitatvāc ca māṃsam abhakṣyaṃ bodhisattvasya | ṛṣibhojanāhāro hi mahāmate āryajano na māṃsarudhirāhāra ity ato ’pi bodhisattvasya māṃsam abhakṣyam ||
【求译】“不净气分所生长故,不应食肉。众生闻气悉生恐怖,如旃陀罗及谭婆等,狗见憎恶,惊怖群吠故,不应食肉。又令修行者慈心不生故,不应食肉。凡愚所嗜臭秽不净,无善名称故,不应食肉。
【菩译】“复次,大慧!菩萨应观一切是肉,皆依父母脓血不净赤白和合生不净身,是故菩萨观肉不净不应食肉。复次,大慧!食肉之人,众生闻气悉皆惊怖逃走远离,是故菩萨修如实行,为化众生不应食肉。大慧!譬如旃陀罗猎师屠儿捕鱼鸟人一切行处,众生遥见作如是念:‘我今定死,而此来者是大恶人,不识罪福断众生命,求现前利今来至此为觅我等,今我等身悉皆有肉,是故今来我等定死。’大慧!由人食肉能令众生见者皆生如是惊怖。大慧!一切虚空地中众生,见食肉者皆生惊怖,而起疑念:‘我于今者为死为活?如是恶人不修慈心,亦如豺狼游行世间常觅肉食,如牛噉草蜣蜋逐粪不知饱足,我身是肉正是其食不应逢见。’即舍逃走离之远去,如人畏惧罗刹无异。大慧!食肉之人,能令众生见者皆生如是惊怖,当知食肉众生大怨,是故菩萨修行慈悲,为摄众生不应食彼,非圣慧人所食之味,恶名流布圣人呵啧。是故,大慧!菩萨为摄诸众生故不应食肉。
【实译】“大慧!一切诸肉皆是精血污秽所成,求清净人云何取食?大慧!食肉之人,众生见之悉皆惊怖,修慈心者云何食肉?大慧!譬如猎师及旃陀罗,捕鱼网鸟诸恶人等,狗见惊吠,兽见奔走。空飞水住一切众生,若有见之,咸作是念:‘此人气息犹如罗刹,今来至此,必当杀我。’为护命故,悉皆走避。食肉之人亦复如是。是故,菩萨为修慈行,不应食肉。大慧!夫食肉者,身体臭秽,恶名流布,贤圣善人不用亲狎。是故,菩萨不应食肉。大慧!夫血肉者,众仙所弃,群圣不食。是故,菩萨不应食肉。
bahujanacittānurakṣaṇatayāpy apavādaparihāraṃ cecchataḥ śāsanasya mahāmate māṃsam abhakṣyaṃ kṛpātmano bodhisattvasya | tadyathā mahāmate bhavanti loke śāsanāpavādavaktāraḥ kiṃcit teṣāṃ śrāmaṇyam kuto vā brāhmaṇyam yannāmaite pūrvarṣibhojanānyapāsya kravyādā ivāmiṣāhārāḥ paripūrṇakukṣayaḥ khabhūmijalasaṃniśritān sūkṣmāṃs trāsayanto jantūn samuttrāsayanta imaṃ lokaṃ samantataḥ paryaṭanti nihatam[3] eṣāṃ śrāmaṇyam dhvastam eṣāṃ brāhmaṇyam nāsty eṣāṃ dharmo na vinaya ity anekaprakārapratihatacetasaḥ śāsanam evāpavadanti | tasmād bahujanacittānurakṣaṇatayāpy apavādaparihāraṃ cecchataḥ śāsanasya mahāmate māṃsaṃ sarvam abhakṣyaṃ kṛpātmano bodhisattvasya ||
【菩译】“复次,大慧!菩萨为护众生信心不应食肉。何以故?大慧!言菩萨者众生皆知,是佛如来慈心之种,能与众生作归依处,闻者自然不生疑怖,生亲友想善知识想不怖畏想,言得归依处得安隐处得善导师。大慧!由不食肉能生众生如是信心,若食肉者众生即失一切信心,便言世间无可信者断于信根。是故,大慧!菩萨为护众生信心一切诸肉悉不应食。复次,大慧!我诸弟子,为护世间谤三宝故不应食肉。何以故?世间有人见食肉故,谤毁三宝作如是言:‘于佛法中,何处当有真实沙门婆罗门修梵行者?舍于圣人本所应食,食众生肉,犹如罗刹食肉满腹醉眠不动,依世凡人豪贵势力觅肉食噉,如罗刹王惊怖众生。’是故处处唱如是言:‘何处当有真实沙门婆罗门修净行者?’无法无沙门无毘尼无净行者,生如是等无量无边恶不善心,断我法轮绝灭圣种,一切皆由食肉者过。是故,大慧!我弟子者,为护恶人毁谤三宝,乃至不应生念肉想,何况食肉。
【实译】“大慧!菩萨为护众生信心,令于佛法不生讥谤,以慈愍故,不应食肉。大慧!若我弟子食噉于肉,令诸世人悉怀讥谤,而作是言:‘云何沙门修净行人,弃舍天仙所食之味,犹如恶兽,食肉满腹,游行世间,令诸众生悉怀惊怖,坏清净行,失沙门道?是故,当知佛法之中无调伏行。’菩萨慈愍,为护众生,令不生于如是之心,不应食肉。
mṛtaśavadurgandhapratikūlasāmānyād api mahāmate māṃsam abhakṣyaṃ bodhisattvasya | mṛtasyāpi hi mahāmate manuṣyasya māṃse dahyamāne tadanyaprāṇimāṃse ca na kaścid gandhaviśeṣaḥ samam ubhayamāṃsayor dahyamānayor daurgandhyam ato ’pi mahāmate śucikāmasya yoginaḥ sarvaṃ māṃsam abhakṣyaṃ bodhisattvasya ||
【菩译】“复次,大慧!菩萨为求清净佛土教化众生不应食肉,应观诸肉如人死尸,眼不欲见不用闻气,何况可嗅而著口中,一切诸肉亦复如是。大慧!如烧死尸臭气不净,与烧余肉臭秽无异,云何于中有食不食?是故,大慧!菩萨为求清净佛土教化众生不应食肉。
【实译】“大慧!如烧人肉,其气臭秽,与烧余肉等无差别。云何于中有食不食?是故,一切乐清净者不应食肉。
śmaśānikānāṃ ca mahāmate araṇyavanaprasthāny amanuṣyāvacarāṇi prāntāni śayanāsanāny adhyāvasatāṃ yogināṃ yogācārāṇāṃ maitrīvihāriṇāṃ vidyādharāṇāṃ vidyāṃ sādhayitukāmānāṃ[4] vidyāsādhanamokṣavighnakaratvān mahāyānasaṃprasthitānāṃ kulaputrāṇāṃ kuladuhitṝṇāṃ ca sarvayogasādhanāntarāyakaram ity api samanupaśyatāṃ mahāmate svaparātmahitakāmasya māṃsaṃ sarvam abhakṣyaṃ bodhisattvasya | rūpālambanavijñānapratyayāsvādajanakatvād api sarvabhūtātmabhūtasya kṛpātmanaḥ sarvaṃ māṃsam abhakṣyaṃ bodhisattvasya | devatā api cainaṃ parivarjayantīti kṛtvā mahāmate kṛpātmanaḥ sarvaṃ māṃsam abhakṣyaṃ bodhisattvasya | mukhaṃ cāsya paramadurgandhi ihaiva tāvaj janmani ity api kṛtvā mahāmate kṛpātmanaḥ sarvaṃ māṃsam abhakṣyaṃ bodhisattvasya | duḥkhaṃ svapiti duḥkhaṃ pratibudhyate | pāpakāṃś ca romaharṣaṇān svapnān paśyanti | śūnyāgārasthitasya caikākino rahogatasya viharato ’syāmanuṣyās tejo haranti | uttrasyanty api kadācit saṃtrasyanty api saṃtrāsam akasmāc cāpadyante āhāre ca mātrān na jānāti nāpy aśitapītakhāditākhāditasya samyagrasapariṇāmapuṣṭyādi samāsādayati krimijantupracurakuṣṭhanidānakoṣṭhaś ca bhavati vyādhibahulaṃ na ca pratikūlasaṃjñāṃ pratilabhate | putramāṃsabhaiṣajyavad āhāraṃ deśayaṃś cāhaṃ mahāmate katham iva anāryajanasevitam[5] āryajanavivarjitam evam anekadoṣāvaham anekaguṇavivarjitam anṛṣibhojanapraṇītam akalpyaṃ māṃsarudhirāhāraṃ śiṣyebhyo ’nujñāpyāmi
【求译】“令诸咒术不成就故,不应食肉。以杀生者见形起识,深味著故,不应食肉。彼食肉者诸天所弃故,不应食肉。令口气臭故,不应食肉。多恶梦故,不应食肉。空闲林中虎狼闻香故,不应食肉。令饮食无节量故,不应食肉。令修行者不生厌离故,不应食肉。我常说言凡所饮食作食子肉想,作服药想故,不应食肉。听食肉者,无有是处。
【菩译】“复次,大慧!菩萨为求出离生死,应当专念慈悲之行,少欲知足厌世间苦速求解脱,当舍愦闹就于空闲,住尸陀林阿兰若处,冢间树下独坐思维,观诸世间无一可乐,妻子眷属如枷锁想,宫殿台观如牢狱想,观诸珍宝如粪聚想,见诸饮食如脓血想,受诸饮食如涂痈疮,趣得存命系念圣道不为贪味,酒肉葱韮蒜薤臭味悉舍不食。大慧!若如是者是真修行,堪受一切人天供养;若于世间不生厌离,贪著滋味酒肉荤辛得便噉食,不应受于世间信施。复次,大慧!有诸众生过去曾修无量因缘,有微善根得闻我法,信心出家在我法中,过去曾作罗刹眷属,虎狼师子猫狸中生,虽在我法食肉余习见食肉者欢喜亲近,入诸城邑聚落塔寺饮酒噉肉以为欢乐,诸天下观犹如罗刹争噉死尸等无有异,而不自知已失我众成罗刹眷属,虽服袈裟剃除须发,有命者见心生恐怖如畏罗刹。是故,大慧!若以我为师者,一切诸肉悉不应食。复次,大慧!世间邪见诸咒术师若其食肉咒术不成,为成邪术尚不食肉,况我弟子为求如来无上圣道出世解脱,修大慈悲精勤苦行犹恐不得,何处当有如是解脱为彼痴人食肉而得?是故,大慧!我诸弟子为求出世解脱乐故不应食肉。复次,大慧!食肉能起色力,食味人多贪著,应当谛观,一切世间有身命者,各自宝重畏于死苦,护惜身命人畜无别,宁当乐存疥野干身,不能舍命受诸天乐。何以故?畏死苦故。大慧!以是观察死为大苦是可畏法,自身畏死云何当得而食他肉?是故,大慧!欲食肉者先自念身,次观众生,不应食肉。复次,大慧!夫食肉者,诸天远离,何况圣人,是故菩萨为见圣人,当修慈悲不应食肉。大慧!食 肉之人睡眠亦苦起时亦苦,若于梦中见种种恶,惊怖毛竖心常不安,无慈心故乏诸善力,若其独在空闲之处,多为非人而伺其便,虎狼师子亦来伺求欲食其肉,心常惊怖不得安隐。复次,大慧!诸食肉者贪心难满,食不知量不能消化,增益四大口气腥臊,腹[6]中多有无量恶虫,身多疮癣白癞病疾种种不净,现在凡夫不喜闻见,何况未来无病香洁人身可得。复次,大慧!我说凡夫为求净命噉于净食,尚应生心如子肉想,何况听食非圣人食。圣人离者以肉能生无量诸过,失于出世一切功德,云何言我听诸弟子食诸肉血不净等味?言我听者是则谤我。
【实译】“大慧!诸善男女冢间、树下、阿兰若处寂静修行,或住慈心,或持咒术,或求解脱,或趣大乘,以食肉故,一切障碍,不得成就。是故,菩萨欲利自他,不应食肉。大慧!夫食肉者,见其形色,则已生于贪滋味心,菩萨慈念一切众生犹如己身,云何见之而作食想?是故,菩萨不应食肉。大慧!夫食肉者,诸天远离,口气常臭,睡梦不安,觉已忧悚,夜叉恶鬼夺其精气,心多惊怖,食不知足,增长疾病,易生疮癣,恒被诸虫之所唼食,不能于食深生厌离。大慧!我常说言凡所食噉作子肉想,余食尚然,云何而听弟子食肉?大慧!肉非美好,肉不清净,生诸罪恶,败诸功德,诸仙圣人之所弃舍,云何而许弟子食耶?若言许食,此人谤我。
anujñātavān punar ahaṃ mahāmate sarvāryajanasevitam anāryajanavivarjitam anekaguṇavāhakam anekadoṣavivarjitaṃ sarvapūrvarṣipraṇītaṃ bhojanaṃ yaduta śāliyavagodhūmamudgamāṣamasūrādisarpistailamadhuphāṇitaguḍakhaṇḍamatsyaṇḍikādiṣu samupapadyamānaṃ bhojanaṃ kalpyam iti kṛtvā | na ca mahāmate ’nāgate ’dhvany ekeṣāṃ mohapuruṣāṇāṃ vividhavinayavikalpavādināṃ kravyādakulavāsitāvāsitānāṃ rasatṛṣṇāvyavasitānām idaṃ praṇītaṃ bhojanaṃ pratibhāṣyate | na tu mahāmate pūrvajinakṛtādhikārāṇām avaropitakuśalamūlānāṃ śrāddhānām avikalpānāṃ bahulānāṃ śākyakulakulīnānāṃ kulaputrāṇāṃ kuladuhitṝṇāṃ kāyajīvitabhogānadhyavasitānām arasagṛdhrāṇām alolupānāṃ kṛpālūnāṃ sarvabhūtātmabhūtatāmupagantukāmānāṃ sarvasattvaikaputrakapriyadarśināṃ bodhisattvānāṃ mahāsattvānam iti vadāmi ||
【菩译】“大慧!我听弟子食诸圣人所应食食,非谓圣人远离之食,圣食能生无量功德远离诸过。大慧!过去现在圣人食者,所谓粳米大小麦豆,种种油蜜,甘蔗甘蔗汁,骞陀末干提等,随时得者听食为净。大慧!于未来世有愚痴人,说种种毘尼言得食肉,因于过去食肉熏习爱著肉味,随自心见作如是说,非佛圣人说为美食。大慧!不食肉者,要因过去供养诸佛种诸善根,能信佛语坚住毘尼信诸因果,至于身口能自节量,不为世间贪著诸味,见食肉者能生慈心。
【实译】“大慧!净美食者,应知则是粳米、粟米、大小麦、豆、苏油、石蜜,如是等类。此是过去诸佛所许,我所称说。我种性中诸善男女心怀净信,久植善根,于身、命、财不生贪著,慈愍一切犹如己身,如是之人之所应食,非诸恶习虎狼性者心所爱重。
bhūtapūrvaṃ mahāmate ’tīte ’dhvani rājābhūt siṃhasaudāso nāma | sa māṃsabhojanāhārātiprasaṅgena pratisevamāno rasatṛṣṇādhyavasānaparamatayā māṃsāni mānuṣyāṇy api bhakṣitavān | tann idānaṃ ca mitrāmātyajñātibandhuvargeṇāpi parityaktaḥ prāg eva paurajānapadaiḥ svarājyaviṣayaparityāgāc ca mahadvyasanamāsāditavān māṃsahetoḥ ||
【求译】“复次,大慧!过去有王名师子苏陀娑,食种种肉,遂至食人。臣民不堪,即便谋反,断其奉禄。以食肉者有如是过故,不应食肉。
【菩译】“大慧!我忆过去有王名师子奴,食种种肉爱著肉味,次第乃至食于人肉,因食人肉父母兄弟妻子眷属皆悉舍离,一切臣民国土聚落即便谋反共断其命。以食肉者有如是过,是故不应食一切肉。
【实译】“大慧!过去有王名师子生,耽著肉味,食种种肉,如是不已,遂至食人。臣民不堪,悉皆离叛。亡失国位,受大苦恼。
indreṇāpi ca mahāmate devādhipatyaṃ prāptena pūrvābhūtvā pūrvajanmamāṃsādavāsanādoṣāc chyenarūpam āsthāya kapotaveṣarūpadhārī viśvakarmā samabhidruto ’bhūt tulāyāṃ cātmānamāropita āsīt | yasmād rājānaparādhibhūtānukampakaḥ śibī duḥkhena mahatā lambhitaḥ[7] | tad evam anekajanmābhyas tam api mahāmate devendrabhūtasya śakrasyāpi sataḥ svaparadoṣāvahanam abhūt prāg eva tadanyeṣām ||
【菩译】“复次,大慧!自在天王化身为鸽,释提桓因是诸天主,因于过去食肉习气,化身作鹰惊逐此鸽,鸽来投我,我于尔时作尸毘王,怜愍众生更相食噉,称己身肉与鹰代鸽,割肉不足身上秤上受大苦恼。大慧!如是无量世来食肉熏习,自身他身有如是过,何况无愧常食肉者。
【实译】“大慧!释提桓因处天王位,以于过去食肉余习,变身为鹰,而逐于鸽。我时作王,名曰尸毘,愍念其鸽,自割身肉,以代其命。大慧!帝释余习尚恼众生,况余无惭常食肉者。当知食肉自恼恼他。是故,菩萨不应食肉。
anyeṣāṃ ca mahāmate narendrabhūtānāṃ satām aśvenāpahṛtānām aṭavyāṃ paryaṭamānānāṃ siṃhyā saha maithunaṃ gatavatāṃ jīvitabhayādapatyāni cotpāditavantaḥ siṃhasaṃvāsānvayāt kalmāṣapādaprabhṛtayo nṛpaputrāḥ pūrvajanmamāṃsādadoṣavāsanatayā manuṣyendrabhūtā api santo māṃsādā abhūvan | ihaiva ca mahāmate janmani saptakuṭīrake ’pi grāme pracuramāṃsalaulyādatiprasaṅgena niṣevamānā mānuṣamāṃsādā ghorā ḍākā vā ḍākinyaś ca saṃjāyante | jātiparivarte ca mahāmate tathaiva māṃsarasādhyavasānatayā siṃhavyāghradvīpivṛkatarakṣumārjārajambukolūkādipracuramāṃsādayoniṣu pracuratarapiśitāśanā rākṣasādighoratarayoniṣu vinipātyante | yatra vinipatitānāṃ duḥkhena mānuṣyayonir api samāpadyate prāg eva nirvṛtiḥ | ity evamādayo mahāmate māṃsādadoṣāḥ prāg eva niṣevamānānāṃ samupajāyante viparyayāc ca bhūyāṃso guṇāḥ | na ca mahāmate bālapṛthagjanā etāṃś cānyāṃś ca guṇadoṣān avabudhyante | evamādiguṇadoṣadarśanān mahāmate māṃsaṃ sarvam abhakṣyaṃ kṛpātmano bodhisattvasyeti vadāmi ||
【菩译】“大慧!复有余王不食肉者,乘马游戏为马惊波牵入深山,失于侍从不知归路,不食肉故师子虎狼见无害心,与雌师子共行欲事,乃至生子斑足王等,以过去世食肉熏习,及作人王亦常食肉,在七家村多乐食肉,食肉太过遂食人肉,生诸男女尽为罗刹。大慧!食肉众生依于过去食肉熏习,多生罗刹师子虎狼豺豹猫狸鸱枭雕鹫鹰鹞[8]等中,有命之类各自护身不令得便,受饥饿苦常生恶心念食他肉,命终复堕恶道,受生人身难得,何况当有得涅槃道?大慧当知!食肉之人有如是等无量诸过,不食肉者即是无量功德之聚。大慧!而诸凡夫不知如是食肉之过不食功德,我今略说不听食肉。
【实译】“大慧!昔有一王乘马游猎,马惊奔逸,入于山险,即无归路,又绝人居。有牝师子与同游处,遂行丑行,生诸子息。其最长者名曰班足,后得作王,领七亿家。食肉余习,非肉不食。初食禽兽,后乃至人,所生男女悉是罗刹。转此身已,复生师子、豺狼、虎豹、雕鹫等中,欲求人身终不可得,况出生死涅槃之道。大慧!夫食肉者,有如是等无量过失。断而不食,获大功德。凡愚不知如是损益。是故,我今为汝开演,凡是肉者,悉不应食。
yadi ca mahāmate māṃsaṃ na kathaṃ cana kecana bhakṣayeyur na tann idānaṃ ghāteran | mūlyahetor hi mahāmate prāyaḥ prāṇino niraparādhino vadhyante svalpād anyahetoḥ | kaṣṭaṃ mahāmate rasatṛṣṇāyām atisevatāṃ māṃsāni mānuṣāny api mānuṣair bhakṣyante | kiṃ punar itaramṛgapakṣiprāṇisaṃbhūtamāṃsāni prāyo mahāmate māṃsarasatṛṣṇārtair idaṃ tathā tathā jālayantram āviddhaṃ mohapuruṣair yac chākunikaurabhrakakaivartādayaḥ khecarabhūcarajalacarān prāṇino ’naparādhino ’nekaprakāraṃ mūlyahetor viśasanti | na caiṣāṃ mahāmate kiṃkanīkṛtarūkṣacetasāṃ rākṣasānām iva gataghṛṇānāṃ kadācid api prāṇiṣu prāṇisaṃjñayā ghātayatāṃ bhakṣayatāṃ na ghṛṇotpadyate ||
【求译】“复次,大慧!凡诸杀者,为财利故,杀生屠贩。彼诸愚痴食肉众生,以钱为网而捕诸肉。彼杀生者,若以财物,若以钩网,取彼空行水陆众生,种种杀害,屠贩求利。
【菩译】“大慧!若一切人不食肉者,亦无有人杀害众生,由人食肉若无可食处处求买,为财利者杀以贩卖,为买者杀,是故买者与杀无异,是故食肉能障圣道。大慧!食肉之人爱著肉味,至无畜生乃食人肉,何况麞鹿雉鹅鴈猪羊鸡狗驼驴象马龙蛇鱼鳖,水陆有命得而不食,由著肉味设诸方便杀害众生,造作种免种罝罗机网,罗山罝地截河堰海,遍诸水陆安置罟网机拨坑埳弓刀毒箭间无空处,虚空地水种种众生皆被杀害,为食肉故。大慧!猎师屠儿食肉人等,恶心坚固能行不忍,见诸众生形体鲜肥肤肉充悦生食味心,更相指示言是可噉,不生一念不忍之心,是故我说食肉之人断大慈种。
【实译】“大慧!凡杀生者,多为人食。人若不食,亦无杀事。是故,食肉与杀同罪。奇哉!世间贪著肉味,于人身肉尚取食之,况于鸟兽有不食者。以贪味故,广设方便,罝罗网罟,处处安施,水陆飞行皆被杀害。设自不食,为贪价直而作是事。大慧!世复有人心无慈愍,专行惨暴,犹如罗刹,若见众生其身充盛,便生肉想,言此可食。
na ca mahāmate ’kṛtakam akāritam asaṃkalpitaṃ nāma māṃsaṃ kalpyam asti yadupādāyānujānīyāṃ śrāvakebhyaḥ | bhaviṣyanti tu punar mahāmate ’nāgate ’dhvani mamaiva śāsane pravrajitvā śākyaputrīyatvaṃ pratijānānāḥ kāṣāyadhvajadhāriṇo mohapuruṣā mithyāvitarkopahatacetaso vividhavinayavikalpavādinaḥ satkāyadṛṣṭiyuktā rasatṛṣṇādhyavasitāstāṃ tāṃ māṃsabhakṣaṇahetvābhāsāṃ granthayiṣyanti | mama cābhūtābhyākhyānaṃ dātavyaṃ maṃsyante tattadarthotpattinidānaṃ kalpayitvā vakṣyanti | iyam arthotpattir asmin nidāne bhagavatā māṃsabhojanam anujñātaṃ kalpyam iti | praṇītabhojaneṣu coktam svayaṃ ca kila tathāgatena paribhuktam iti | na ca mahāmate kutracit sūtre pratisevitavyam ity anujñātam praṇītabhojaneṣu vā deśitaṃ kalpyam iti ||
【求译】“大慧!亦无不教、不求、不想而有鱼肉。以是义故,不应食肉。
【菩译】“大慧!我观世间无有是肉而非命者,自己不杀不教人杀他不为杀,不从命来而是肉者,无有是处。若有是肉不从命出而是美食,我以何故不听人食?遍求世间无如是肉,是故我说食肉是罪,断如来种故不听食。大慧!我涅槃后于未来世法欲灭时,于我法中有出家者,剃除须发自称我是沙门释子,披我袈裟痴如小儿,自称律师堕在二边,种种虚妄觉观乱心贪著肉味,随自心见说毘尼中言得食肉,亦谤我言诸佛如来听人食肉,亦说因制而听 食肉,亦谤我言如来世尊亦自食肉。大慧!我于《象腋》、《央掘魔》、《涅槃》、《大云》等一切修多罗中不听食肉,亦不说肉入于食味。
【实译】“大慧!世无有肉非是自杀,亦非他杀,心不疑杀,而可食者,以是义故,我许声闻食如是肉。大慧!未来之世有愚痴人,于我法中而为出家,妄说毘尼,坏乱正法,诽谤于我,言听食肉,亦自曾食。
yadi tu mahāmate anujñātukāmatā me syāt kalpyaṃ vā me śrāvakāṇāṃ pratisevituṃ syān nāhaṃ maitrīvihāriṇāṃ yogināṃ yogācārāṇāṃ śmaśānikānāṃ mahāyānasaṃprasthitānāṃ kulaputrāṇāṃ kuladuhitṝṇāṃ ca sarvasattvaikaputrakasaṃjñābhāvanārthaṃ sarvāmāṃsabhakṣaṇapratiṣedhaṃ[9] kuryām kṛtavāṃś ca | asmin mahāmate dharmakāmānāṃ kulaputrāṇāṃ kuladuhitṝṇāṃ ca sarvayānasaṃprasthitānāṃ śmaśānikānāṃ maitrīvihāriṇām āraṇyakānāṃ yogināṃ yogācārāṇāṃ sarvayogasādhanāya sarvasattvaikaputrakasaṃjñābhāvanārthaṃ sarvamāṃsapratiṣedham ||
【菩译】“大慧!我若听诸声闻弟子肉为食者,我终不得口常赞叹修大慈悲行如实行者,亦不赞叹尸陀林中头陀行者,亦不赞叹修行大乘住大乘者,亦不赞叹不食肉者,我不自食不听他食,是故我劝修菩萨行叹不食肉,劝观众生应如一子,云何唱言我听食肉?我为弟子修三乘行者速得果故,遮一切肉悉不听食,云何说言我毘尼中听人食肉?
【实译】“大慧!我若听许声闻食肉,我则非是住慈心者,修观行者,行头陀者,趣大乘者,云何而劝诸善男子及善女人于诸众生生一子想,断一切肉?
tatra tatra deśanāpāṭhe śikṣāpadānām anupūrvībandhaṃ niḥśreṇīpadavinyāsayogena trikoṭiṃ baddhvā na tad uddiśya kṛtāni pratiṣiddhāni | tato daśaprakṛtimṛtāny api māṃsāni pratiṣiddhāni | iha tu sūtre sarveṇa sarvaṃ sarvathā sarvaṃ nirupāyena sarvaṃ pratiṣiddham | yato ’haṃ mahāmate māṃsabhojanaṃ na kasyacid anujñātavān nānujānāmi nānujñāsyāmi | akalpyaṃ mahāmate pravrajitānāṃ māṃsabhojanam iti vadāmi | yad api ca mahāmate mamābhyākhyānaṃ dātavyaṃ maṃsyante tathāgatenāpi paribhuktam iti | tad anyeṣāṃ mahāmate mohapuruṣāṇāṃ svakarmadoṣāvaraṇāvṛtānāṃ dīrgharātram anarthāyāhitāya saṃvartakaṃ bhaviṣyati | na hi mahāmate āryaśrāvakāḥ prākṛtam anuṣyāhāram āharanti kuta eva māṃsarudhir āhāram akalpyam | dharmāhārā hi mahāmate mama śrāvakāḥ pratyekabuddhā bodhisattvāś ca nāmiṣāhārāḥ prāg eva tathāgatāḥ | dharmakāyā hi mahāmate tathāgatā dharmāhārasthitayo nāmiṣakāyā na sarvāmiṣāhārasthitayo vāntasarvabhavopakaraṇatṛṣṇaiṣaṇāvāsanāḥ sarvakleśadoṣavāsanāpagatāḥ suvimuktacittaprajñāḥ sarvajñāḥ sarvadarśinaḥ sarvasattvaikaputrakasamadarśino mahākāruṇikāḥ | so ’haṃ mahāmate sarvasattvaikaputrakasaṃjñī saṃ katham iva svaputramāṃsam anujñāsyāmi paribhoktuṃ śrāvakebhyaḥ kuta eva svayaṃ paribhoktum | anujñātavān asmiṅ śrāvakebhyaḥ svayaṃ vā paribhuktavān iti mahāmate nedaṃ sthānaṃ vidyate ||
【求译】“大慧!我有时说遮五种肉,或制十种。今于此经,一切种,一切时,开除方便,一切悉断。大慧!如来、应供、等正觉尚无所食,况食鱼肉。亦不教人。以大悲前行故,视一切众生犹如一子。是故,不听令食子肉。”
【菩译】“又复说言如来余修多罗中说三种肉听人食者,当知是人不解毘尼次第断故唱言得食。何以故?大慧!肉有二种,一者、他杀;二者、自死。以世人言有肉得食有不得者,象马龙蛇人鬼猕猴猪狗及牛,言不得食余者得食,屠儿不问得食不得,一切尽杀处处炫卖,众生无过横被杀害,是故我制他杀自死悉不得食。见闻疑者所谓他杀,不见闻疑者所谓自死。是故,大慧!我毘尼中唱如是言:‘凡所有肉,于一切沙门释子皆不净食,污清净命障圣道分,无有方便而可得食。’若有说言佛毘尼中说三种肉为不听食非为听食,当知是人坚住毘尼是不谤我。大慧!今此楞伽修多罗中,一切时一切肉,亦无方便而可得食。是故,大慧!我遮食肉不为一人,现在未来一切不得。是故,大慧!若彼痴人自言律师,言毘尼中听人食肉,亦谤我言如来自食,彼愚痴人成大罪障,长夜堕于无利益处无圣人处不闻法处,亦不得见现在未来贤圣弟子,况当得见诸佛如来。大慧!诸声闻人常所应食,米面油蜜种种麻豆能生净命,非法贮畜非法受取,我说不净尚不听食,何况听食血肉不净。大慧!我诸声闻辟支佛菩萨弟子食于法食,非食饮食何况如来。大慧!诸佛如来法食法住非饮食身,非诸一切饮食住身,离诸资生爱有求等,远离一切烦恼习过,善分别知心心智慧一切智一切见,见诸众生平等怜愍。是故,大慧!我见一切诸众生等犹如一子,云何而听以肉为食?亦不随喜,何况自食。大慧!如是一切葱韮蒜薤臭秽不净能障圣道,亦障世间人天净处,何况诸佛净土果报;酒亦如是,能障圣道能损善业能生诸过。是故,大慧!求[10]圣道者酒肉葱韮及蒜薤等能熏之味悉不应食。”
【实译】“大慧!我于诸处说遮十种,许三种者,是渐禁断,令其修学。今此经中,自死他杀,凡是肉者,一切悉断。大慧!我不曾许弟子食肉,亦不现许,亦不当许。大慧!凡是肉食,于出家人悉是不净。大慧!若有痴人,谤言如来听许食肉,亦自食者,当知是人恶业所缠,必当永堕不饶益处。大慧!我之所有诸圣弟子尚不食于凡夫段食,况食血肉不净之食?大慧!声闻、缘觉及诸菩萨尚唯法食,岂况如来?大慧!如来法身,非杂食身。大慧!我已断除一切烦恼,我已浣涤一切习气,我已善择诸心智慧,大悲平等,普观众生犹如一子,云何而许声闻弟子食于子肉,何况自食?作是说者,无有是处。”

【菩译】大慧菩萨问:酒肉葱韮蒜,
佛言是不净,一切不听食。
anāryajuṣṭa durgandhamakīrtikaram eva ca|
kravyādabhojanaṃ māṃsaṃ brūhyabhakṣyaṃ mahāmune ||2||
【菩译】罗刹等食噉,非圣所食味;
食者圣呵啧,及恶名流布。
bhakṣyamāṇe ca ye deṣā abhakṣye tu guṇāś ca ye |
mahāmate nibodha tvaṃ ye doṣā māṃsabhakṣaṇe ||3||
【菩译】愿佛分别说,食不食罪福?
大慧汝谛听,我说食中过,
svājanyādvyabhicārāc ca śukraśoṇitasaṃbhavāt |
udvejanīyaṃ bhūtānāṃ yogī māṃsaṃ vivarjayet ||4||
【求译】曾悉为亲属,鄙秽不净杂,
不净所生长,闻气悉恐怖。
【菩译】酒肉葱韮蒜,是障圣道分。
我观三界中,及得圣道众;
无始世界来,展转莫非亲。
云何于其中,而有食不食?
观肉所从来,出处最不净;
脓血和杂生,尿屎脓涕合,
修行净行者,当观不应食。
【实译】悉曾为亲属,众秽所成长,
恐怖诸含生,是故不应食。
māṃsāni ca palāṇḍūṃś ca madyāni vividhāni ca |
gṛñjanaṃ laśunaṃ caiva yogī nityaṃ vivarjayet || 5 ||
【求译】一切肉与葱,及诸韮蒜等,
种种放逸酒,修行常远离。
【菩译】种种肉及葱,酒亦不得饮,
种种韮及蒜,修行常远离。
【实译】一切肉与葱,韮蒜及诸酒,
如是不净物,修行者远离。
mrakṣaṇaṃ varjayet tailaṃ śalyaviddheṣu na svapet |
chidrāc chidreṣu sattvānāṃ yac ca sthānaṃ mahadbhayam || 6 ||
【求译】亦常离麻油,及诸穿孔床,
以彼诸细虫,于中极恐怖。
【菩译】常远离麻油,穿孔床不眠,
飞扬诸细虫,断害他命故。
【实译】亦常离麻油,及诸穿孔床,
以彼诸细虫,于中大惊怖。
āhārāj jāyate darpaḥ saṃkalpo darpasaṃbhavaḥ |
saṃkalpajanito rāgas tasmād api na bhakṣayet || 7 ||
【求译】饮食生放逸,放逸生诸觉,
从觉生贪欲,是故不应食。
【菩译】肉食长身力,由力生邪念,
邪念生贪欲,故不听食肉。
【实译】饮食生放逸,放逸生邪觉。
从觉生于贪,是故不应食。
saṃkalpāj jāyate rāgaś cittaṃ rāgeṇa muhyate |
mūḍhasya saṃgatir bhavati jāyate na ca mucyate || 8 ||
【求译】由食生贪欲,贪令心迷醉,
迷醉长爱欲,生死不解脱。
【菩译】由食肉生贪,贪心致迷醉;
迷醉长爱欲,不解脱生死。
【实译】邪觉生贪故,心为贪所醉,
心醉长爱欲,生死不解脱。
lābhārthaṃ hanyate sattvo māṃsārthaṃ dīyate dhanam |
ubhau tau pāpakarmāṇau pacyete rauravādiṣu || 9 ||
【求译】为利杀众生,以财网诸肉,
二俱是恶业,死堕叫[11]呼狱。
【菩译】为利杀众生,为肉追钱财;
彼二人恶业,死堕叫唤狱。
【实译】为利杀众生,以财取诸肉,
二俱是恶业,死堕叫唤狱。
yo 'tikramya muner vākyaṃ māṃsaṃ bhakṣati durmatiḥ |
lokadvayavināśārthaṃ dīkṣitaḥ śākyaśāsane || 10 ||
【黄译】已按释迦教导入道,思想依然邪恶,
违背牟尼教诲食肉,毁掉两个世界。
te yānti paramaṃ ghoraṃ narakaṃ pāpakarmiṇaḥ|
rauravādiṣu raudreṣu pacyante māṃsakhādakāḥ||11||
【黄译】犯下恶业者堕入最可怕的地狱,
食肉者在恐怖的号叫地狱受煎熬。
trikoṭiśuddhamāṃsaṃ vai akalpitamayācitam|
acoditaṃ ca naivāsti tasmānmāṃsaṃ na bhakṣayet||12||
【求译】若无教想求,则无三净肉,
彼非无因有,是故不应食。
【菩译】三种名净肉,不见闻不疑;
世无如是肉,生堕食肉中。
【实译】不想不教求,此三种名净,
世无如是肉,食者我诃责。
māṃsaṃ na bhakṣayed yogī mayā buddhaiś ca garhitam |
anyonyabhakṣaṇāḥ sattvāḥ kravyādakulasaṃbhavāḥ || 13 ||
【求译】彼诸修行者,由是悉离远,
十方佛世尊,一切咸呵责,
展转更相食,死堕虎狼类。
【实译】更互相食噉,死堕恶兽中,
臭秽而癫狂,是故不应食。
durgandhiḥ kutsanīyaś[12] ca unmattaś cāpi jāyate |
caṇḍālapukkasakule ḍombeṣu ca punaḥ punaḥ || 14 ||
【求译】臭秽可厌恶,所生常愚痴,
多生栴陀罗,猎师谭婆种,
【菩译】臭秽可厌患,常生癫狂中;
多生旃陀罗,猎师屠儿家。
ḍākinījātiyonyāś ca māṃsāde jāyate kule |
rākṣasīmārjārayonau ca jāyate 'sau naro 'dhamaḥ || 15 ||
【求译】或生陀夷尼,及诸肉食性,
罗刹猫狸等,遍于是中生。
【菩译】或生罗刹女,及诸食肉处;
罗刹猫狸种,食肉生彼中。
【实译】猎师旃茶罗,屠儿罗刹娑,
此等种中生,斯皆食肉报。
hastikakṣye mahāmedhe nirvāṇāṅgulimālike |
laṅkāvatārasūtre ca mayā māṃsaṃ vivarjitam || 16 ||
【求译】缚象与大云,央掘利魔罗,
及此楞伽经,我悉制断肉。
【菩译】象腋与大云,涅槃胜鬘经;
及入楞伽经,我不听食肉。
【实译】食已无惭愧,生生常癫狂,
诸佛及菩萨,声闻所嫌恶。[13]
象胁与大云,涅槃央掘摩,
及此楞伽经,我皆制断肉。
buddhaiś ca bodhisattvaiś ca śrāvakaiś ca vigarhitam |
khādate yadi nairlajjyād unmatto jāyate sadā || 17 ||
【求译】诸佛及菩萨,声闻所呵责,
食已无惭愧,生生常痴冥。
【菩译】诸佛及菩萨,声闻亦呵啧;
食肉无惭愧,生生常癫狂。
brāhmaṇeṣu ca jāyeta atha vā yogināṃ kule |
prajñāvān dhanavāṃś caiva māṃsādyānāṃ vivarjanāt || 18 ||
【黄译】远离食肉等,则生于婆罗门和
修行者家族,具有智慧和财富。
dṛṣṭaśrutaviśaṅkābhiḥ sarvamāṃsaṃ vivarjayet |
tārkikā nāvabudhyante kravyādakulasaṃbhavāḥ||19||
【求译】先说见闻疑,已断一切肉,
忘想不觉知,故生食肉处。
【菩译】先说见闻疑,已断一切肉;
妄想不觉知,故生食肉想。
【实译】先说见闻疑,已断一切肉,
以其恶习故,愚者妄分别。
yathaiva rāgo mokṣasya antarāyakaro bhavet |
tathaiva māṃsamadyādyā antarāyakaro bhavet || 20 ||
【求译】如彼贪欲过,障碍圣解脱,
酒肉葱韮蒜,悉为圣道障。
【菩译】如彼贪欲过,障碍圣解脱;
酒肉葱韮蒜,悉为圣道障。
【实译】如贪障解脱,肉等亦复然,
若有食之者,不能入圣道。
vakṣyanty anāgate kāle māṃsādā mohavādinaḥ |
kalpikaṃ niravadyaṃ ca māṃsaṃ buddhānuvarṇitam || 21 ||
【求译】未来世众生,于肉愚痴说,
言此净无罪,佛听我等食。
【菩译】未来世众生,于肉愚痴说;
言此净无罪,佛听我等食。
【实译】未来世众生,于肉愚痴说,
言此净无罪,佛听我等食。
bhaiṣajyaṃ māṃsam āhāraṃ putramāṃsopamaṃ punaḥ |
mātrayā pratikūlaṃ ca yogī piṇḍaṃ samācaret || 22 ||
【求译】食如服药想,亦如食子肉,
知足生厌离,修行行乞食。
【菩译】净食如药想,犹如食子肉;
知足生厌离,修行行乞食。
【实译】净食尚如药,犹如子肉想,
是故修行者,知量而行乞。
maitrīvihāriṇāṃ nityaṃ sarvathā garhitaṃ mayā |
siṃhavyāghravṛkād yaiś ca saha ekatra saṃbhavet || 23 ||
【求译】安住慈心者,我说常厌离,
虎狼诸恶兽,恒可同游止。
【菩译】安住慈心者,我说常厌离;
师子豺虎狼,恒可同游止。
【实译】食肉背解脱,及违圣表相,
令众生生怖,是故不应食。[14]
安住慈心者,我说常厌离,
师子及虎狼,应共同游止。
tasmān na bhakṣayen māṃsam udvejanakaraṃ nṛṇām |
mokṣadharmaviruddhatvād āryāṇām eṣa vai dhvajaḥ || 24 ||
【求译】若食诸血肉,众生悉恐怖,
是故修行者,慈心不食肉。
食肉无慈悲,永背正解脱,
及违圣表相,是故不应食。
得生梵志种,及诸修行处,
智慧富贵家,斯由不食肉。[15]
【菩译】食肉见者怖,云何而可食?
是故修行者,慈心不食肉。
食肉断慈心,离涅槃解脱;
及违圣人教,故不听食肉。
不食生梵种,及诸修行道;
智慧及富贵,斯由不食肉。
【实译】若于酒肉等,一切皆不食,
必生贤圣中,丰财具智慧。[16]
iti laṅkāvatārāt sarvabuddhapravacanahṛdayān māṃsabhakṣaṇaparivarto 'ṣṭamaḥ ||
